'Sansanati Tez khabrein' - Sirf Sansanati ????

'Sansanati tez khabar' has become the latest buzzword among TV news channels with more emphasis on the sansanati khabar than the tez part of it. And this is hampering the way news are being reported in the country. In the craze of getting the latest news, these media giants are even prepared to invent news out of nothing. Highlited below are some incidents on which I believe there is some debate necessary:

1) Recently, the Times group launched their news channel, headed by Arnab Goswami. During the first three days of its presence, it announced three controversies. Everyday, there is some absurd and inconsequential controversy being telecast on the channel.
2) The legendary A** T**(Sabse tez), which carries immature quotes even for the most serious events. For example, when the legendary actor of yesteryear, Sunil Dutt passed away, A** T** showed a headline attaching more importance to the various Page 3 personalities visiting the bereaved family than the remorseful death. And as if this was enough, the A** T** correspondent went about asking various filmstars present about how they felt about his death........ How pathetic can one get in the hunger for showing sansanati tez khabar.
3) The host of a popular show of yesteryear, JAnta Ki Adalat, is today associated with one of the most controversial news channels, I**** TV, which thought that the Shakti Kapoor controversy was the most important event going on in the country at that time. Following this 'expose' were several such immature and inconsequential 'exposes' which held no relevance to the common man whatsoever.
4) The main headline on all the major news channels in the country a couple of weeks ago was ' Mallika Sherawat visits Baba Ramdev.' I really wonder where our great country is headed if this is the main headline of the day and gets that much coverage.
5) In the first test match of the ongoing India-Pakistan series, there was a clip shown where Greg Chappell, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid were seen in an animated conversation about something. Now such an event made headlines the same day and the professionals who were in maximum demand that day were people who understood sign language and several meanings were thrown to the public as to what could have happened and that resulted in a major controversy in India.
Several such incidents can be brought out ranging from the Vivek Oberoi mobile phone controversy to the recent controversy of the IG who became 'Radha'. The only common thread among all the above examples is the absolute lack of maturity and common sense among the news channels. My only plea to this major component of the Fourth Estate is kindly focus on genuine problems like hunger, illiteracy and ways to eradicate them rather than worrying about whom Laloo's daughter is marrying or why Ash dumped Salman. As a responsible information disseminator in the society and with the potential to affect the lives of millions of people, I feel that all the news channels fuctioning currently need to be brought under stringent regulations or under the axe as the case may be.

Pancha Pandav.......

Just read in a recent news article that 5 IITians have started a political outfit. There can be no better news than this among all the other drab news we read about today. Its high time educated people started getting into politics and played a part in developing the country rather than just speaking about it like how u and I do. Generally, the observed trend is that an IITian or for that matter any other engineer aspires to be serving Uncle Sam than Mother India.
I fully support the endeavour of going abroad to study as long as the final intention is to serve the country of one's own birth. What these 5 IIT alums have done is that they have provided a direction to the several educated youth who are genuinely interested in doing something for our country at some stage of their lives like myself.
Maybe movies like Rang De Basanti will inspire more patriotic fervour in this great country of ours and more such heroes will emerge. As was pointed out in the movie stated above,"It is time to unite for a freedom struggle, this time for Poorna Swaraj, from the oppression of our own elected representatives and envisage a much better future for generations of Indians to come."
With this quote I end my thoughts on the matter, though I am sure that the fire ignited by actions such as those of the 5 IITians will continue to burn and ignite other souls as well.
KUDOS to those heroes!!!!!!! and Jai Hind!!!
